Newton, NJ

Visiting us for an in-person gathering or ceremony? We compiled this list of our favorite local gems so you can make the most of your journey.

NATURE:

Swartswood State Park
1091 E Shore Dr, Swartswood
Around the corner from our house, this is one of our favorite spots. The park has a lake beach and an easy walking trail with a handful of scenic lookouts. During the summer, you can swim in the lake and/or rent kayaks & paddle boats.

Stokes State Forest
1 Coursen Rd, Branchville
SO many trails to explore and there’s a natural spring available to the public.

Buttermilk Falls
Mountain Rd, Layton
This trail is a bit further from our house but it’s such a beautiful hike. There are a few different trail options — if you head towards the falls (you can walk or drive right to it), you can expect a climb leading towards a lookout. There’s a trail prior to the falls that is our personal favorite, walking along a babbling spring.

FOOD:

Windy Brow Farms
359 Ridge Rd, Fredon Township
Best ice cream you’ll ever have — both vegan and dairy options available. They have a storefront with various farm goodies and homemade pastries & bread. The smell walking in is divine. They also have a walk-up window where you can order coffee, tea, and ice cream.

Cloveberry Organic Cafe
21 Main St, Sparta Township
This is our most visited spot for lunch!  All the wraps/sandwiches are delicious and they have GF options. Their chia pudding and chai are Brie’s personal favorites.

The Farmer’s Daughter
161-165 Spring St, Newton
A busy town favorite restaurant serving excellent food. It is attached to a market filled with local offerings, antiques, gifts, and gourmet goodies displayed amongst many family heirlooms and local artifacts.

The Circle
310 Route 94, Newton

Our favorite date night spot. Two very experienced Jean George NYC Chefs showcasing their incredible talents with local ingredients. Highly recommended if you are looking for a wonderful dinning experience.

GOODS:

Grey Barn Antiques
134 Main St, Andover
There are so many good thrift stores near us! This is one of our favorites and you’ll see a handful of others on the same block.

Thistle & Clover
180 Spring St, Newton
The cutest apothecary / metaphysical shop. Think crystals, witchy home decor, herbs, clothing, and more.

OTHER:

Thrive Embodied Arts | Pole Dancing
180 Spring St, Newton
This space is magick. It’s a women’s membership only studio but if you happen to be visiting us on a Saturday, they offer an 8am Somatic Sensuality class that is open to the public.
